Conn. Community Gives Away a Year of Free Rent, TVs

No foolin'. Landlords are getting desperate!

We've told you that 70 percent of landlords would consider lowering rent this year and we've outlined tips for how to barter with your landlord. But now at least one rental community is so desperate they're willing to give away free rent on a two-bedroom apartment for a year just to attract attention. And if a new renter signs a lease they'll get a host of freebes including: a 32-inch flat-screen television, two months free rent, free heat and hot water and free storage for three months. Isn't renting great! Here are the details...

You're in luck if you're want to live in Conneticut near Hartford (11 minutes) or New Haven (36 minutes). Set in the quaint New England town of Rocky Hill, The Glenbrook at Rocky Hill Garden Apartments just renovated its sprawling 43-acre campus and is giving away a year's lease to potential renters who register before Nov. 23.

The rental community even looks pretty nice. It's got a new clubhouse, just opened in August, with an indoor pool, fitness center, kitchen and patio, plus a business center for those of you who work at home. The improvements mean the apartments got upgrades, too, with new siding, insulation, windows, sliding-glass doors, balconies and common areas. You also get two parking spaces per unit, storage space and walking trails - CNN Money even named the town one of the Top 100 places to live in 2007. Doesn't sound too bad, does it?
