What recession?! Somebody had enough cash flow to donate a ski house to be auctioned off for charity. And not just for a week - forever
Believe it or not, The Vail Academy is raffling off a $1.3 million ski home plus $450,000 in cash
to help raise money for the school.
The school must have some high-profile friends - even Vail residents and reality-show celebs Trista and Ryan from "The Bachelorette" have been promoting the auction.
Here are the details of the home and auction:
The grand prize is this furnished, 2,700-square-foot luxury home in West Vail, Co. (right) with 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 2 fireplaces, hardwood floors, plus $450,000 in cash to help pay the taxes. Each Friday, cash prizes are also awarded. For example, on Nov. 4, $4,750 was split up among four winners. Plus, if you refer the grand-prize winner you win $25,000 and
you can win $12,500 just for referring a friend
Tickets cost $100 each and the series of early-bird cash drawings prior to the Grand Prize drawing make it worth while to enter early.
The next drawing is Dec. 4. Tickets can be ordered at www.winavailhome.com
or by calling 866-638-9488.
The drawing will take place Dec. 31, 2009.
We can picture it now: spend a year hosting lucky friends and family in your new ski house. Heck, fly them out with some of your extra cash. Then sell it when the market picks up - or rent it out for approximately $40,000 a season. Sounds like a pretty good deal for $100.
