Buying Incentive Worth a Hill of Beans

Clayton Homes, are you pulling our leg? Instead of talking up the $8,000 tax credit or any number of other possible incentives, this Tennessee-based manufactured home company is offering homebuyers ... a can of beans.

Buyers who purchase a Clayton home by the end of December will be the proud new owners of a brand-name can of pork and beans in addition to their new modular home. Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch?

Weighing an incentive like that against desperate landlords willing to give away free rent and televisions to renters, it sounds like a no-brainer to stay in your apartment. Unless you reeeeally like beans.
