Most people think actors always want to live in Hollywood or Santa Monica but actress Heather McComb has called Studio City home for almost 10 years and loves it. She tells us why the yearly Christmas parade is one of the charms of this just-over-the-hill neighborhood.

How long have you lived in Studio City?
Almost 10 years in Studio City, but in this house almost a year.
What do you love about your neighborhood?
I love that it's secluded and private. It's sort of country-like but in the city. The nice thing is that Hollywood and Beachwood are nearby.
Best kept secret in Studio City?
My favorite breakfast place called The Studio Cafe
. I always get the Santa Fe scramble with corn tortillas and Chulula. And then there is this great little new wine-and-cheese place with salads to go that I just discovered on Tujunga. It's kind of a specialty place for us because we don't have anything Dean and Deluca like over here. And there is a great store called Mimi & Hy
-- and not just because they sell the jewelry I make. And for amazing sushi there is Sushi Nozowa
. Although I say that really Katsu-Ya is my favorite, I was there just last night!
Favorite way to spend a Saturday night?
I would probably say a girls and gays night out and head to sushi at Katsu-Ya and then this really cool bar called La Loggia
. It's a restaurant but there's a bar too and it's nice to get a drink there. A lot of the time I spend at the house though. I love to invite friends over for dinner, and everyone brings things. It's so peaceful there.
Not that there's anything wrong with the Valley, but why Studio City?
I love Studio City! I've lived in the Valley since I was 12 years old. I love that I am in the hills and I can walk places, I can hike my dogs. It's close to the city but not in the city. It's got great little shopping off the beaten path and everything I need is in a small condensed area.
We really have great cafes now and shopping; Studio City has really expanded. And I have to say that my favorite thing is that they have an annual Christmas parade with all the local vendors. For example, a hair salon will sponsor a float and they will have marching bands from the local schools. The streets close down and everyone is out, it's a really fun local tradition.
So are you a Studio City lifer?
I love Studio City and I'm not thinking of moving but if I did it would be to Malibu or the beach. If I moved I would want something completely different.
