Sweet Chicago Rental: Vintage Lincoln Park 2-Bedroom for $2,000

Lincoln Park 2-Bedroom Condo for $2000There's a reason everyone from deep-pocket buyers and yuppie parents to recent college graduates have flocked to Lincoln Park for decades. With tree-lined streets, corner coffee shops and eateries, and a location off the shores of Lake Michigan, it is one of (if not "the") quintessential Chicago neighborhood.

This sweet 2-bedroom on West Rosyln Place is in the heart of Lincoln Park's vibrant community. It's a half-block from North Clark Street, which is home to
brunch spots, sushi take-out, local hangout bars, and a selection of late-night munchie spots, like the hotdog mecca, Weiner Circle, where it gets rowdy once the bars close down at 2 a.m.

If you go out your front door to the East, in another half-block, you'll be at the area's namesake, Lincoln Park, a 1,200-acre open green space. Past the park, you'll hit the beach, a maximum trip of five minutes on foot where you can run, bike or play volleyball. (Believe me, you won't expend much energy getting lakeside, but that doesn't mean you can't nap or break out the bikini there in the summer months).

As they say, this place has "location, location, location." But if the repetition is a turnoff and the lackluster economy is more top of mind, then here's why you shouldn't pass on this vintage gem.

An informal survey of other two bedrooms in close proximity show that the $2,000 monthy price tag is competitive for the area (though overall the median rent for Lincoln Park is $1,700 per month, according to Hotpads.com).

Plus, the 1,400-square-foot space comes with two bathrooms and a private rooftop deck. Other extras include a wood-burning fireplace (you'll be thankful for this amenity when it snows in April), and cosmetic touches, such as French doors and stainless-steel appliances. Oh, did I mention back and front porches? Afterall, it is essential to maximize outside exposure during Chicago's brief, but oh-so-perfect summers.

You won't even fret about your upcoming moving day. Just like the high-rollers, yuppies and 20-something professional set, you'll learn that once you find a home in Lincoln Park, you'll never want to move again.
