I Want This Miami House: Like Living in a Resort for $18M

3575 Stewart Ave., Miami, FlaOne of the great things about vacationing at a luxury resort is all of the amenities: the pool, rec room, beach, fine dining, and personal service. Moving into this $18 million house at 3575 Stewart Ave. in Miami, Fla., would be like living permanently at a luxury resort, minus the personal service. That is unless you hire a valet, personal chef maid and butler to cater to your every whim.

And why not? With a home like this, at this price tag, you might as go all out and hire some help. It at least has room for them, with staff quarters included somewhere on the nearly 1-acre lot in the Southwest Coconut Grove neighborhood.
The 9,492-square-foot home, built in 1938 but renovated in 2008, has eight bedrooms, seven-and-a-half baths, gourmet kitchen overlooking a large family room, two-sided fireplace in the living room, open formal dining room, and enough spectacular views of the ocean, Biscayne Bay and Miami skyline to make you think you're living in a resort. There are sweeping views of the water from every room, as the home is surrounded on three sides by waterfront.

3575 Stewart Ave., Miami, Fla.But what sells me is the pool and the accompanying wet bar and billiard room to make it feel like a vacation. The pool, while not huge, is big enough and luxurious enough with the deck and nearby cabana to make swimming a quiet respite. The pool area has an outdoor bar and an indoor bar, making getting a drink easy. An outdoor terrace has beautiful views of the water, creating another area to relax. As with any resort, there are enough lounge chairs around with spectacular views to almost force you to relax.

If you ever plan on leaving the house, there is plenty in the neighborhood to keep you busy. "The Grove," as locals call the area, includes the city of Coconut Grove and has many parks and beaches.

The $18 million price is almost double the $9.5 million average price of a similarly sized home sold in the area. Maybe the three-sided waterfront plot and pool are driving up the price.
