I Want This House! Dallas, Texas Oasis, $950K

7151 Greentree Lane, Dallas, TexasYou don't expect to see much greenery in Texas, but this $950,000 house in Dallas has enough in the back yard and at nearby White Rock Lake that beating the summer heat while enjoying the view will be easy.

I've written before here about big homes in Dallas at similar prices, but this one at 7151 Greentree Lane is unique for its lush landscaping, waterfall, huge amphitheater-style fire pit, all in a back yard that terraces down to Rush Creek. The 2,657-square-foot home is in the Green Cove Estates subdivision in the Lakewood neighborhood and is minutes from downtown Dallas.
The Lakewood neighborhood in East Dallas is home to the historic Lakewood Theater, where classic films are shown, along with contemporary musical and comedy events. The neighborhood is popular with people who want to be near city life but don't like a lot of traffic. The area and nearby White Rock Lake are also popular with cyclists, runners and hikers.

7151 Greentree Lane, Dallas, TexasThe back yard of this home is enough to sell me on it. While it doesn't have a pool, possibly because of the terraced incline, it has a creek behind it that should offer plenty of relaxation when it's running. The many trees in the back yard must look stunning in the fall when the leaves are changing color, and a beautiful wood deck set up against the back of the house provides a good spot to sit and watch nature. There's also a large patio area with a grill for barbecuing.

Built in 1965, the three-bedroom, two-bath house has hand-scraped wood floors that I've never seen before, but look amazing. It has a fireplace, custom, cherry cabinetry and steel panel roof.

Comparable homes in the neighborhood have an average list price of $884,708.
