Uma Thurman may soon be in the business of looking for a Stairmaster. If today's reported suspicions
are accurate, the statuesque actress has listed her Greenwich Village five-story, elevator-free townhouse with Sotheby's Homes after just 3.5 years of sweating up and down a lot of stairs.
Located in the Gold Coast area of Greenwich Village, 18 W. Ninth St
., the suspected home of Thurman has been listed for a whopping $14.2 million. That's $2.2 million more than she earned working with director Quentin Tarantino in each "Kill Bill" flick, and still $200,000 more than she earned for her role in "My Super Ex-Girlfriend."
The townhouse is roughly 25 feet wide and located on a tree-lined block. Critics agree the property is one of the more elegantly designed and laid-out townhomes in the city. The grand parlor boasts an over-size bay window which scores plenty of southern sun. The dining region
looks out onto the south garden where there's an outdoor gas fireplace and direct access to a terrace. Additional outdoor space includes a rooftop deck.
The master suite and sitting area take up one full floor, and there are four other bedrooms (perhaps for children Maya, Levon and their friends). For those who can't afford the $14.2 million pricetag on their own, consider renting the the garden level. It has an under-the-stoop entry and is completely separate, replete with a large family room.
The 18 W. Ninth St. property was last purchased in October 2006 for $9.5 million, so Uma stands to make $4.7 million. One negative is that despite the grandeur of the block, it is busy with traffic
thanks to the Fifth and Sixth avenue cross-streets.
While Thurman is no property mogul like her ex-boyfriend Andre Balazs, she has had her fair share of buying and selling New York real estate
over the last five years. After she and actor Ethan Hawke divorced in October 2006, the couple sold their Gramercy Park duplex for $8.6 million. Just a few months earlier in June and July, Thurman purchased two duplex units for $2.5 and $2.65 million in that very same Gramercy Park building.
And for those moments when Thurman needs a breather from the Big Apple, she reportedly has a 96-acre compound in Bearsville, N.Y., close to plenty of other celebrity property-owners
