Jane Seymour's L.A. Home: For Sale or Rent

Many people put their property on the market for sale or for lease in an effort to maximize their chance of having money come in. Actress Jane Seymour and her husband, actor/producer James Keach, have put their Sherman Oaks property on the market for $2,195,000 or for lease at $5,900, adding their names to those who are open to money coming in either way. It's the second time they've tried this increasingly common strategy.

"In this case they prefer to lease than to sell because it's got family history," says their real estate agent, Keith Fisher of Prudential California's Sherman Oaks office. "Plus, it's a great property in a great location so it's value will stay strong."
The home was built in 1960 by the actor/producer father of James Keach, Stacy Keach Sr. and his

wife, both deceased. The home (pictured below) has been in the acting family since that time and has four bedrooms, four bathrooms and over 3,300 square feet of space. In 2005 the property was also listed for sale or lease, but at considerably more -- $2,600,000 to purchase and $7,900 to lease.

Fisher says that he hasn't seen an increase in the number of sale and/or lease offerings -- it just depends on the owner and their financial situation.

"Some people -- because of where the market is -- prefer to lease," he says, "to hold onto a property til the market comes back, since they know it will go for more.

"If someone needs the cash, that is their reason to lease or sell, it just depends."
