Charlize Theron Lists Home to Sell or Rent

La Costa Beach in Malibu, where Charlize Theron has a home, doesn't have the cache of Malibu Colony or Carbon Beach. And soon, it also won't have the Oscar-winning actress Theron, who starred in "North Country" (2005) -- a role she gained 30 pounds to play -- and "Monsters" (2003).

Theron and former partner Irish actor Stuart Townsend have listed the home they shared on the beach in Malibu at $30,000 a month for a six-month lease. It is also available for sale at $7.5 million, but the lease offer suggests that these might be flexible owners eager to cover all their bases.
The celebrity press has the pair in splitsville as of about a year ago. Theron has been romantically linked with actor Eric Thal, a Jimmy Smits look-alike but without the smolder.

The beachfront house has three bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Like most homes along this stretch, it has a deck facing the ocean. The Pacific Coast Highway runs absurdly close to the street-side door, making this a less attractive beach location for some. Then again, after a glass of wine, you probably can't tell the cars whizzing by from the sound of the ocean waves.

focus on summer tenants. The adjacent La Costa Beach Club is a membership-only club for area residents and while not fancy, does provide nice sheltered catering facilities for parties.

The 2,095-square-foot Theron home comes with all the bells and whistles of a Malibu beach home: a hot tub, fire pit, water features and beach toys, according to the listing. It's offered fully furnished. The third bedroom has a private entrance and the home has a drop-down TV, high-end sound system, security cameras and a lanai. It is one of the oldest homes in La Costa and has been fully updated.

Madison Hildebrand of Coldwell Banker, Malibu Colony office, has the listing.
