James' 6-bedroom, 8.5-bath home spans three stories, with an external spiral staircase leading to the rooftop deck. The seller purchased the property in 2005 for $3.5 million, but had that home razed and a new one built about a year ago and then listed it in January for $12.9 million with Judith and Nathan Zeder of Esslinger Wooten Maxwell. It had a reduced list price of $11.9 million when James put in an offer with the help of agent Ashley Michelle-Velez of Miami-based P.U.R.E Investments.
"It is a beautiful area, a wonderful neighborhood," Beachfront Realty agent Alex Shay, who did not represent the buyer or the seller, told HousingWatch. "One of the reasons he chose it is it so so close to the American Airlines arena where the Miami Heat play all of their home basketball games. So you have a beautiful quiet neighborhood that is a 10-minute drive to the arena."
