Obama's Hawaii Retreat: Available for Rent

Barack ObamaPresident Barack Obama, who will be on vacation on the Hawaii island of Oahu through Jan. 2, is staying with his family at the 5-bedroom, 5.5-bath rental home he has vacationed in for the past three Christmas holidays. If you can cough up $3,500 per night, you, too, can rent the private oceanside retreat.

"The home is next available for rental as of March 20, 2011," owner-manager Glenn Weinberg told AOL Real Estate. "The rental rate varies depending on the season, the number of days the home is rented and market conditions." It is currently listed on HomeAway.com.

But don't let the nightly rent for this home with 4,951 interior square feet have you thinking maybe you can get together with 10 friends and rent it for a day for your bachelorette party.

Weinberg, who bought the home in the name of his Paradise Point Estates LLC, a company he manages, requires a one-week minimum stay. "But I have had people rent it for as many as 35 days," says Weinberg of Owings Mills, Md., a Baltimore suburb.

Weinberg says he bought the home, known as Plantation Estate, on July 9 for $6.9 million, which was practically a Find Apartments and Homes for Rent Find the perfect place to rent in your area on AOL Real Estate See Apartments for Rent See Homes for Rent steal from the former owner, a Houston man who purchased it in January 2008 for $9 million. At different points for nearly two years the previous owner had listed it for $8.9 million and $7.95 million, according to ABC News.

"It is one of the most beautiful homes on all the islands....Just looking at the ocean from there and the mountains, it is just breakthtaking," said Weinberg, who lists details at ParadisePointEstates.com.

The home, which sits on a deadend road with few other homes, has a three-car garage, a media room with a 60-inch flat-screen TV with speakers embedded in laser-carved mahogany leaves. The center courtyard of the estate features a secluded lagoon-style pool pavilion, including tropical waterfalls. Throughout the home there are stained glass, natural stone tiling, and African mahogany carvings.

First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha, arrived Saturday, with dog Bo in tow, ahead of the president, who arrived late Wednesday night. Weinberg, who plans a stay there next, says due to local residential zoning clauses he can only rent it out once every 30 days, regardless of the length of the contract. He and his family, which includes a recent high school graduate, plan to spend about 60 to 90 days total at the estate -- when it is not in use by renters, of course.

I really got fed up with Bush and his mess of $%^&@. (what I can't say on here) But at least he went to his own place most of the time when he went on vacation. AND he had a full blown office so he could keep working when he was there. Obozo expects the taxpayers to foot the bill for this place, on top of the vacations to New York and wherever else he and his better heifer went? He should have to go to his old house in Chicago on Vacation. He DID tell the Olympic commitee that it was one of the nicest places on earth didn't he? So why, all of a sudden isn't it good enough for him? This Narcissistic Pr1ck thinks he deserves to have us pay for all his off hours activities? BULL!

Are we racist because we don't like the way our govermnent treats us, better yet how they treat themselves? This is class warfare and the govermnent is made up of millionares and they have all the weapons. I don't have to be racist not to like this. He knows what state this country is in and he is on vacation most of the time? Screw his healthcare, screw him period!

It would be really great if the house could be sold to someone who would NOT rent it out then maybe the Community would have some peace and quiet and would not have to put up with the obama Family. They are a pain in the ass and everytime the Chief idiot wants to go some where everything comes to a standstill. Roads blocked, traffic tie ups, people having to cancel things because he or his Family are coming through. He has no consideration for anyone else. All he cares about is his comfort and his Gold Game and his B-Ball sessions and his work outs.

Uh Huh? Why doesn't barack call Judge Derrick Chan and ask him why he ruled against us and denied our motion to have the 1st Amendment to our father's trust (a blatant forgery) declared invalid? Look into the ethics violations by the Bank of Hawaii

"The home is next available for rental as of March 20, 2011," owner-manager Glenn Weinberg told AOL Real Estate.

Anyone intelligent should have the facts before making a comment. This is publicity for the owner's rental. He talked to AOL and provided the pictures. I don't think this was appropriate so what was the motive here? I don't know for sure so I won't comment.

The article doesn't say who is paying. On previous occasions, the Obama's have paid for vacations with their own money.

What does the owner do for a living? I haven't heard any complaints about his ownership of this property. Where did he get his money? Shouldn't he rent it to the President for free if you are worried about the govenment paying for it. After all, he must have benefited from the Bush tax break and will benefit for the next two years of contined tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. Why isn't anyone concerned that Glen Weinberg is charging such high rates? Based on many
comments, these commenters should be against anyone who would spend this much money.

Don't make comments when you don't have the facts. I am wasting my time even writing a comment. I don't even know why I read any of these comments. Our country is in trouble with this mentality. I hope these people are not voters. Good citizens are informed voters. They get the facts!
