House of the Day: Aspen Complex Puts You Over the Slopes

Mega-wealthy ski buffs may find their dream getaway in the form of this $30 million mountainside compound. Offering a "front-row" view of nearby Aspen Mountain, the soft-contemporary complex echoes its surroundings with its undulating barreled roofs and earth-brown exterior.

The two-acre estate includes an 11,300-square-foot main home as well as a 4,100-square-foot guesthouse, or "a place for your pilots to hang out," as the house's realtor, Mark Haldeman, put it.
Appearing to cater most to that rare breed, left-leaning business moguls who ski, the estate is Built Green Colorado-certified with thermal insulation and disguised solar panels. The main house has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, three half-bathrooms, and a giant gourmet kitchen furnished with granite countertops. Residents can sprawl across hardwood floors to warm themselves at any of the four fireplaces and stare out giant windows-for-walls at the mountain panorama.

Haldeman of Sotheby's has the listing.
