New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has added a new gem to his -- a $20 million Georgian-style mansion in the Hamptons that he is expected to close on shortly, reports the New York Post.
The 35-acre estate known as Ballyshear abuts an exclusive golf course and at 22,000 square feet with 11 bedrooms and eight baths, should be plenty o' house for hizzoner. It also features one of those winding half-mile driveways that keeps the riff-raff at bay.
This is a house that comes with history, too. It was built in 1910 and designed by F. Burall Hoffman for Charles Blair MacDonald -- in the listing as being the father of modern golf course design. The ivy-covered brick house is surrounded by traditional English gardens designed by F. Olmstead Jr. and Rose Standish Nichols.
Of course we're not sure when the golf-loving mayor actually will find the time to use this latest property acquisition, given that he already owns homes on the Upper East Side, London, Vail, and Bermuda. But we do admire his taste in houses.
