Actor Matthew Perry just paid $8.65 million for Hollywood Hills house that was listed at $9.9 million, sources have told AOL Real Estate. The 4,000-square-foot custom-designed house, perched above the Sunset Strip, has four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and views to die-for from downtown to the ocean.
A real "Hollywood" style home, there is a "wet edge" pool and spa with solar and gas heating. There's also a custom theater with velvet seating for nine on a level below the pool, which has a two-inch thick Perspex underwater pool window. We've only seen that one in the movies.
The house has American walnut floors and all the right brand names in appliances and high-end features: Poliform, Gaggenau, Sub-Zero, Crestron, Dornbracht faucets, Silestone slabs, Boffi accessories, Antonio Lupi, and a Renlita Australia garage door. There are three fireplaces, including one on the patio.
Perry, best-known for his role as Chandler on the long-running series "Friends," received critical acclaim for his lead role in the TV movie "The Ron Clark Story." He more recently appeared in, wrote and produced the ABC sitcom "Mr. Sunshine."
The actor is expected to move in immediately. [UPDATE 08/18/11: Perry just listed his West Hollywood condo at $2,995,000. He bought the 1,600-square-foot unit from Elton John for $3.2 million in 2005.]
Ben Bacal of Keller Williams, Hollywood Hills, shared the listing with Dena Luciano of that same office. The buyer was represented by Greg Holcomb of Partners Trust, Beverly Hills, according to the MLS.
