The Best Public Restrooms in America

My three favorite female bathrooms was in Las Vegas, my dentist here in Tampa, and Dillard's Department store. I have thought that most airports do a serious job keeping bathrooms clean, too.

I didn't like all of them. There was only one I really liked.

This story is warm & fuzzy, but how about some mention of the worst bathrooms in well known public places? The worst experience I ever had in a public restroom was at Olive Garden in Charleston, SC about 15 years ago - it was absolutely disgusting. To this day I refuse to dine at ANY Olive Garden!

I wonder what the standards are? Are we talking fanciest or cleanest? The door should pull open upon entering and push open when leaving. After I've washed my hands I don't care to pull the door open with a handle that has been used by those who have not washed their hands! The waste receptacles should be kept emptied, no litter on floor, should have towels as well as air dryers, all fixtures should be in working condition, soap and hot water available. I don't care about fancy, I don't go in there to lounge about. In a fancy place or night spot there should be seats and well lighted mirrors to touch up makeup if needed, but a department store, mall, gas station, etc should offer all of the above.

I travel a lot and make us eof the public facilities and while none are as decorative as these, they are clean and stocked with necessities. This is in foreign countries. Here, in the US, they are filthy. Forget toilet paper or paper towels. After coming out of some I want to throw my shoes away. It's a shame Americans have no respect for property their tax money built.

Public bathroom in Bryant Park on 6th Avenue & 42nd St. behind the New York Public library. Fresh flowers when you walk in and Bathroom Attendants to clean and refill supplies constantly. If you are in the city that never sleeps and you "have to go" this is where to go.
P.S. Tourist buses stop just outside so there can be a line at peek times.

While I don't see it on the list, I was at Revel Casino in Altantic City, NJ, and their ladies' room was absolutely BEAUTIFUL, as well as spotless.

Serious, is this really something that is worth spending time and energy on.

Most of the public bathrooms on the Big Island in Hawaii are the cleanest we've ever been in and we've visited all 50 states. It's amazing what pigs some people are.
