A Look Inside Rod Stewart's New Mansion, Durrington House

Rod Stewart's home, Durrington House, in Essex, England.

According to the Daily Mail, rock superstar Rod Stewart has just picked up the 10-bedroom Durrington House in Essex, about 30 miles northeast of London.

Rod StewartIt's not Stewart's first foray into the world of Jane Austen-style real estate -- he and his wife still own the seven-bedroom Wood House manse, an Essex estate once owned by Winston Churchill -- so we're allowed to assume, mayhaps, that Stewart harbors an intense British rock star affection for "immaculate gardens," toile, croquet lawns and ornamental ponds. (Right? Right.)

Brokerbabble for Durrington House, last listed for 4.65 million pounds ($7.22 million), calls it "one of the finest houses in the area," with a primary country house and "ancillary accommodation" that includes four self-contained cottages -- one with an 18th-century clock tower! -- plus potting sheds and a greenhouse.
