Actress Holly Hunter has hoisted the old-school-style apartment she once bought from another A-list celebrity onto the Manhattan real estate market. The spitfire film and TV star, who has an Academy Award and many other honors to her credit, is asking $8.7 million for the Greenwich Village apartment at 43 5th Ave, New York, N.Y. Hunter has owned the unit since 2005, when she paid $4.1 million to Julia Roberts, the previous owner.
According to the intrepid trackers at the Real Estalker blog, there's no word about where the 55-year-old actress is looking to take her clan, but there's a good chance that the mother of 8-year-old twins might be needing more space, or could be taking future schooling choices into consideration. Hunter purchased this unit after she took up with her longtime beau, actor Gordon MacDonald, but before they had their children in 2006.
According to listing agents Steve Halprin and Jan Ashley of Douglas Elliman, the residence is part of a full service and "grand ... 1905 Beaux-Arts masterpiece on lower Fifth Avenue." The high-floor apartment has seen its original features restored, including wood moldings and trim surrounding the over-sized windows. There are three bedrooms, three bathrooms, two separate offices and a large kitchen with ample seating space.
