As the economy teeters on the brink of recession, suddenly many costs that Americans have carried seem a lot harder to cover. For all the adjustable-rate mortgages that have reset and gas prices that have risen, there are other monthly or yearly expenses that have either increased or only recently become a burden. So where are these expenditures the highest? We identified on a state-by-state basis the most expensive suburbs in which to live.
