Despite the recent weakness in home values nationwide, these blue-chip neighborhoods have held their value in their respective metro areas. Here are the best performing neighborhoods over the past five years in each of America's 20 largest metropolitan areas. For example, the blue chip area for New York City has appreciated 132 percent over the past half decade.



Each neighborhood is within 20 miles of the city center, and neighborhoods analyzed had a larger portion of owner-occupied residences; renter-dominated neighborhoods were excluded.
